La Provincia y universidades públicas avanzan en mejoramiento genético vegetal
El gobernador de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, y el ministro de Desarrollo Agrario, Javier Rodríguez, firmaron seis acuerdos de colaboración científico tecnológica con las Universidades Nacionales del Centro, Sur, Noroeste, Quilmes, Luján y Hurlingham, en el marco del Programa Provincial de Mejoramiento Genético Vegetal. Los convenios fueron suscritos durante el 9° Congreso Nacional e Internacional de Agrobiotecnología, Propiedad Intelectual y Políticas Públicas, realizado en la localidad de Azul.
Los acuerdos establecen la colaboración entre el Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario -a través de sus 16 Chacras y Estaciones Experimentales- y las universidades en actividades de investigación, extensión, experimentación, asistencia técnica y capacitación en temas vinculados al mejoramiento genético vegetal. El objetivo de este trabajo conjunto es instrumentar una tecnología eficaz y adecuada que contribuya a la solución de los principales problemas productivos de cada una de las regiones de la Provincia.
“La Provincia tiene una enorme capacidad para desarrollar tecnología vinculada a la producción agropecuaria, lo que faltaba era la decisión política de impulsar esa capacidad desde el Estado. Cuando iniciamos la gestión nos encontramos con 13 Chacras Experimentales prácticamente abandonadas y hoy tenemos un sistema de innovación trabajando articuladamente con los productores en el mejoramiento genético vegetal y animal, con resultados concretos y muy importantes, como por ejemplo el registro de nuevas variedades de trigo y lotus”, señaló el ministro Javier Rodríguez.
“La innovación debe ser parte entonces de la política agropecuaria, porque eso es lo que va a permitir garantizar la competitividad a mediano y largo plazo. Y un punto central es que todos estos desarrollos que se están haciendo desde el Estado provincial, contribuyen a construir nuestra soberanía tecnológica, que es lo que va a permitir que como país y como sociedad podamos decidir realmente el futuro que queremos”, agregó.
Las cartas de intención firmadas por la Provincia y las casas de altos estudios comprenden la realización conjunta de programas y planes de mejoramiento genético vegetal, la formación de recursos humanos en distintas unidades, la recepción de pasantes en las Chacras Experimentales del Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario y la admisión de investigadores en las mismas.
Participaron de la firma, el rector de la Universidad Nacional del Centro, Marcelo Aba; la vicerrectora de la Universidad Nacional de Quilmes; María Alejandra Zinni; la directora decana del Departamento de Tecnología de la Universidad Nacional de Luján, Elena Beatriz Craig; el secretario general de Relaciones Institucionales y Planeamiento de la Universidad Nacional del Sur, Pablo Alejandro Marinángeli; el director de Vinculación Tecnológica de la Universidad Nacional de Hurlingham, Ernesto Gallegos; y la directora de la Escuela de Ciencias Agrarias, Naturales y Ambientales de la Universidad Nacional del Noroeste, Virginia Pasquinelli.
Cabe recordar que el Programa Provincial de Mejoramiento Genético Vegetal del MDA tiene por objetivo mejorar la productividad de los cultivos de interés (granos, hortalizas, frutales, forestales, forrajeras, ornamentales, etc.), incrementar la tolerancia y/o resistencia a factores bióticos y abióticos, y aumentar la calidad, integrándose a la cadena agroalimentaria de la provincia de Buenos Aires, teniendo en cuenta la sustentabilidad de los sistemas de producción.
