Por primera vez en 23 años, Toyota Argentina produce un nuevo vehículo en el país
En su planta de producción de Zárate, Toyota Argentina anunció con la presencia del ministro de Economía, Sergio Massa, y del secretario de Industria y Desarrollo Productivo, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, un plan de inversión por 50 millones de dólares para la producción del vehículo utilitario HIACE en sus dos versiones. Esta inversión se enmarca en el nuevo Régimen de Impulso a la Producción de Vehículos para la Región que anunció el ministro hoy y que tiene como objetivo desarrollar en Argentina plataformas de producción de modelos regionales, que proyecten incrementar el componente local y aumentar las exportaciones.
“Hoy es un día para festejar para todo el sector automotriz argentino, no por lo que representa el decreto sino por lo que representa poner en marcha la producción de instrumentos vehículos, y utilitarios que nos van a permitir seguir liderando en nuestra región y consolidar a la Argentina como plataforma regional de producción automotriz”, aseguró Massa. Y agregó: “Sentimos mucho más orgullo porque significa que cuando hay un modelo de desarrollo económico planificado, donde el Estado pone prioridades y define incentivos, y donde los trabajadores se sientan junto a los empresarios a la mesa a pensar el proceso de desarrollo, se logran plantas como estas”,
“Nos pone contentos como argentinos, como industriales y como gobierno que Japón haya elegido a Argentina para hacer un lanzamiento de esta magnitud, para fabricar en nuestro país un vehículo con un éxito extraordinario en el mundo. Estamos ante un sector que es un claro ejemplo para la industria y nos demuestra que cuando se logran armonizar los intereses crecen todos los sectores”, aseguró Mendiguren y agregó que “creemos que lo que hoy estamos viendo es una decisión clara de un sector dispuesto a crecer, a complementarse y a aceptar los desafíos que hoy presenta un mundo que en los últimos años ha cambiado de forma enorme en materia industrial”.
En relación al nuevo régimen el secretario aseguró que “va a permitir acelerar los procesos de integración y producción en el país. Con herramientas como estas, estamos impulsando el desarrollo de proveedores, una mayor integración local y a la vez fomentar una fuerte política exportadora. Por decisión de Japón, hoy se comenzará a producir en Argentina para toda la región”.
La automotriz japonesa está llevando adelante una inversión de 30 millones de dólares en la construcción y equipamiento de una nueva nave industrial y 20 millones de dólares en infraestructura, accesos y equipamiento informático, para producir en nuestro país a partir de enero de 2024 el vehículo comercial HIACE en sus versiones Furgón L2H2 y Commuter (pasajeros).
Con este anuncio, Toyota producirá un nuevo modelo en Argentina por primera vez en 23 años y será la primera van que fabrica en nuestro país. En su etapa inicial, se producirán 4.000 unidades del utilitario que se comercializarán tanto en el mercado local como en Brasil, con un potencial de 10.000 unidades anuales a mediano plazo, y se crearán más de 200 puestos de trabajo directos.
“Desde que participé en el proyecto HIACE en 2014 en Japón, trabajamos con la idea de poder producirla en Argentina y exportarla a Latinoamérica. Así como la Hilux aportó al desarrollo de la industria argentina y logró convertirse en sinónimo de vehículo de trabajo, aspiramos a que en 10 años la HIACE producida en Zárate cumpla con las mismas expectativas de nuestros clientes”, afirmó Masahiro Inoue, CEO de Toyota Latinoamérica y Caribe (TLAC).
Por su parte, el presidente de Toyota Argentina, Gustavo Salinas, agregó: “Estamos muy orgullosos de que nuestra planta comience a producir un tercer vehículo. Con la incorporación de HIACE, fortalecemos nuestra operación en el país que se basa en la inversión, el crecimiento y la generación de empleo”.
También estuvieron presentes en el anuncio el secretario general del Sindicato de Mecánicos y Afines del Transporte Automotor (S.M.A.T.A), Ricardo Pignanelli; el Intendente de Zárate, Osvaldo Caffaro; el secretario de Comercio, Matias Tombolini; su par de Economía del Conocimiento, Juan Manuel Cheppi; y las diputadas nacionales, Agustina Propato y Micaela Moran. Participaron también representantes de la Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (U.O.M); autoridades y representantes de las Cámaras y Asociaciones de la cadena de valor de la industria Automotriz; y trabajadores y trabajadoras de Toyota.
La producción de HIACE estará destinada al mercado doméstico y de exportación a Brasil, como punto de partida para evaluar nuevos destinos en la región, aseguran desde la compañía. Este nuevo proyecto industrial compartirá autopartes y componentes con los dos vehículos que hoy se producen en Zárate y se exportan a 22 países de América Latina: la pickup Hilux y el SUV SW4.
Nuevo Régimen de Impulso a la Producción de Vehículos para la Región
Este anuncio se realiza en el marco del lanzamiento del Nuevo Régimen de Impulso a la Producción de Vehículos para la Región, que promueve el desarrollo de plataformas de producción de nuevos modelos en Argentina. Su puesta en marcha otorga beneficios arancelarios para aquellas empresas que realicen inversiones tendientes a producir nuevos modelos en nuestro país, complementandose con la producción local existente.
El objetivo central de esta medida es fomentar el desarrollo de segmentos del mercado automotor que hoy cuentan con escalas productivas reducidas y bajo contenido local.
Específicamente, el nuevo régimen habilita la reducción en los Derechos de Importación Extrazona para vehículos totalmente desarmados e incompletos (IKD). Para acceder y mantenerse dentro del régimen, las terminales automotrices en el país deberán establecer metas anuales de incremento de contenido local, aumento de las exportaciones y sustentabilidad en la balanza comercial.
En términos generales, el régimen apuesta a seguir impulsando a un sector que se destaca como uno de los motores del crecimiento de la industria nacional, que hoy se ubica 16,4% por encima de la pre-pandemia. Según el informe mensual de la Asociación de Fábricas de Automotores (ADEFA), en mayo de este año la producción nacional de vehículos automóviles creció un 14,8% interanual, lo que representó el mayor volumen de producción en 10 años para ese mes. En tanto, el acumulado a mayo creció 24% respecto al mismo periodo de 2022, y fue el mejor inicio desde 2014.
En relación con las exportaciones, el sector exportó 30.279 unidades de vehículos en mayo, 13,1% más que un año atrás. Asimismo, en los primeros cinco meses se exportaron 128.753 unidades y crecieron 19% respecto a enero-mayo de 2022, presentando el mayor volumen de exportación desde enero-mayo de 2014.
